About Me
My name is James McGuire. I am a passionate urbanist, data lover, and an enthusiast of maps and all things geospatial. My journey began at Cleveland State University's Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies and a certificate in GIS. I soon began working as the first GIS and Research Technician for the Cuyahoga Land Bank in Cleveland, OH. I worked for the Land Bank for over 6 years, developing new and more efficient mapping and data compiling strategies. I've recently relocated to the Washington, DC area to take on new challenges and exciting opportunities. I moved on to my current position as a distribution planner at CHA Consulting, an engineering consulting firm in Silver Spring, MD. I am responsible for producing detailed technical engineering maps for our clients. Here I am learning new capabilities and uses for GIS, maintaining strict graphical standards set by our clients, revising and updating training material, and collaborating with new team members to meet our deadlines.
